Mushrooms

We are growing oyster mushrooms!  We started Good Small Farms in 2021 with the aim of growing local food for human beings.  Mushrooms can be an excellent addition to a balanced and healthy diet.  They are rich in fibre, vitamin D, B3, B5, folate and various minerals.  They are a delicious addition to many dishes (and can be hidden in kids’ food pretty easily).  And they add another element of resilience to our business.

Tom started with oyster mushrooms as they are the most forgiving to a new mushroom grower(they are vigorous and so out-compete other mushrooms), they have a subtle and delicious nutty flavour, and provide a good way for us to learn and refine our process.  We are hoping in due course to diversify into other varieties and also to offer dry mushrooms.
