We started grafting walnuts because we like a challenge! We are proud to be one of the very few places in the UK grafting our own walnut trees.
We believe that UK-grown nut crops could play a key role in the healthy and sustainable diets of the future, as we seek to reduce our consumption of animal products and our reliance on imports. Walnuts can be grown in stand alone orchards, agroforestry systems or as single specimen trees.
All the varieties we grow are selected for nut production, but there is also a valuable market for walnut timber.
We aim to source our rootstock and scion wood as locally as possible, supporting plant biosecurity and UK growers.
Named walnut cultivars for nut production with known qualities such as level of cropping, flowering time, nut size and disease resistance
We graft and grow on all our own walnuts on site
We use locally sourced scionwood from two known growers in Warwickshire, and increasingly from our own walnut trees on the farm
We are moving towards using UK-grown seedling walnuts as rootstock.
All our walnut trees are certified organic in-conversion, and from May 2025 will have full organic status
