School Visits

We welcome primary school children to the farm for lively, hands-on visits tailored to Early Years and Key Stages 1 and 2. During each visit, children take a guided tour of the farm where they can meet the animals, learn how food is grown, taste some of the fresh produce, plant a seed  — all while discovering the wonders of the natural world.

Booking a visit

We offer 2-hour sessions for groups of up to 30 children. Visits run either:

  • Morning: between 9:00am and 12:00pm
  • Afternoon: between 12:30pm and 3:30pm

To book your visit, just email us at hello@goodsmallfarms.co.uk.

Key Stage 1 and 2

Each visit can be shaped to support your needs. Just let us know in advance what your class is learning, and we’ll do our best to bring those lessons to life on the farm. There are plenty of chances for children to ask questions, share ideas, and get hands-on throughout the tour.

Here are just some of the areas we can explore:

🐮 Animals

  • Observe and group farm animals using scientific terms: herbivores, carnivores, omnivores; domestic and wild; adult and young.
  • Talk about how we care for animals on the farm – what they eat, where they sleep, and how they stay healthy.

🌱 Plants

  • Identify and name plants across the farm: deciduous, evergreen, annuals, perennials.
  • Explore how they grow, what they need, and how they reproduce through seeds and bulbs.
  • Take a closer look at their flowers, fruits, and life cycles.

🐾 Living Things and Their Habitats

  • Introduce the idea of habitats and micro-habitats.
  • Look at how plants and animals depend on each other.
  • Discuss the effects of human activity on the environment and wildlife.

🍂 Seasonal Changes

We adapt our tours to the time of year, helping children notice how nature changes with the seasons.

  • Autumn: See trees shedding leaves, harvest time for fruits and nuts, and animals growing winter coats.
  • Spring: Plant seeds, spot early bulbs, and explore the signs of new plant growth.
  • Summer: Look out for newborn calves, buzzing bees and colourful flowers and taste some of the vegetables and fruit we grow on the farm.

If you’ve got any questions or would like help tailoring your visit, don’t hesitate to reach out, email hello@goodsmallfarms.co.uk.

We look forward to welcoming you to the farm soon!
