Harvesting Abundance

How lovely it is to have some sunshine and warmth in Stroud! As usual at this time of year, we are kept busy harvesting the abundance – not only for the veg bags but also for Stroud Farmers’ Market and various cafes and foodie businesses in and around Stroud (including: Funky FalafelCotswolds Pop UpsStar Anise CafeNatural Cookery School, The Long TableStroud Brewery and Stroud Olive Stall), that use our produce. We’ve got rows and rows of onions drying and the squash are swelling nicely! We’ve also been harvesting and drying flowers for winter.

We’ve been collecting Horsetail (Equisetum) to make an anti-fungal spray for some of the effects of such a wet summer, for example rust on the leeks. To make the treatment we boil this fabulous ancient plant 1 to 10 parts water, cool, strain and spray! We’ve also been brewing and using compost, comfrey and nettle teas in the market garden for soil and plant health.

If you subscribe to one of our seasonal veg bags you can now choose from a variety of add-ons or even double-up. You can click here to view our range of add-ons which include cavolo nero kale, courgettes, cucumbers, spinach beet, rainbow chard, tomatoes and turnips.

There’s such a lot of colour to enjoy in our veg bags, even in this grey summer we’ve had so far. We’ve partnered with Ooooby, who are a gate-to-plate platform for local organic veg boxes and ecological food to make it easy for you to order a one-off seasonal veg bag. You can also subscribe and easily pause, cancel or skip weeks. We’ll also include a thank you gift with your first order.

Our veg bags are available for collection each Tuesday from our farm in Stroud on Wick Street, GL6 7QN or from The Long Table, Brimscombe Mill, GL5 2SA. If you’d like to suggest another pick-up point, please get in touch here.

We’re in the process of gaining our organic certification and look forward to sharing more details with you soon. You can also follow us on Instagram for more news on what we’re growing.

All the best, Athene and Rosie.
